Upcoming General Election: Tuesday, November 8, 2016. Election Officers: - Must be reliable and be available for General Elections in November and Primaries when needed. - Must remain at their assigned precinct from 5:00 AM until the polls close and all paperwork is completed (often 8:30 PM – 9:00 PM). - Are paid $175 for serving the day of the election. - Must complete mandatory 3-hour training prior to the election. Training is unpaid. Click HERE for training dates and times. - Must behave in a non-partisan manner while serving in a precinct and cannot engage in political activity or discussion. More Details: - General Elections always take place on the Tuesday after the first Monday in November; Primaries, when called for, are held in June. We ask that all Officers expect to be available for all elections. - The workday is long and some stamina is necessary. You will get breaks, but you must remain in the assigned precinct. - Refresher training may be required in the future if there is a change in equipment or procedures. - You may be asked to serve in a precinct other than your own to fill needed vacancies and maintain a balance between the political parties. - You will always be offered the opportunity to vote absentee. What to do next: Are you still interested? The next step is to complete a Federal I-9 Form. - This must be completed in person at the Fairfax County Office of Elections. No appointment is needed. - Bring EITHER [a current US Passport], OR [a valid driver’s license AND a Social Security Card or Birth Certificate]. - Your application cannot be completed until you present appropriate ID in person.
