A LOST suitcase could quickly become a bigger problem when travelers add this to their luggage tag when on holiday.

Losing luggage ranks highly among some of the worst things to happen on a holiday.

So it makes sense to put personal details in the suitcase so that it can be traced.

However, this can actually cause much bigger problems in the long run if it is found by non-official airport staff.

Having a home address on the luggage tag is a big no-no for travelers.

Richard Clive Rowlands who works at events and festivals around the world said: “Don’t put a residential address on luggage tags. It says ‘This house is empty, please burgle – and take your time.’”

It is also recommended to not even out a friend's address as this can still lead to robberies.

Instead, it is worth adding a work address instead.

AardvarkCompare CEO, Jonathan Breeze, took inspiration from a BA new member: “You should always put at least one business card inside the case – that way, the airline can track you down and give you the bag back.”

Yet if it does get lost, there is another way to try and identify it.

Rowlands adds: “Take a photo of your luggage, put it onto a word processor document with your contact details (work address, phone number) and the dimensions of your luggage.”

This can then be handed to airport staff to identify the piece of luggage easily.

It also prevents the problem of having the same suitcase as everyone else and attempting to remember the exact details of it.

Travelers have recently suffered due to lost luggage.

However, for people flying without luggage to check in, it can be much easier.
