Chinese American WWII Veterans and the Congressional Gold Medal

Hello. My name is Samantha Cheng. I am working with the Chinese American Citizens Alliance, the oldest Chinese American Civil Rights organization in the country, to craft a bill for Congress asking for them to recognize and honor the Chinese Americans who served in WWII on behalf of the United States. This is not an easy task as many of these men have passed away. If you know of a Chinese American WWII veteran or their family, email me at A database is being created, from scratch, of the 13,000 Chinese Americans who served. Many of the WWII military records stored at the National Archives in St. Louis were destroyed in a fire. Any help you can provide would be tremendous. Please share this missive on your social media platforms for this effort truly needs to help of everyone. Thanks.

Only WWII veterans of Chinese American descent would be eligible. There is not official website as the project is just starting. I am looking to create a Dbase with the following information needed:

1. Name
2. Branch of service
2a. Unit
3. Enlisted or drafted
4. City in which one was enlisted or drafted
5. Dates of service
6. Rank when discharged
7. Copy of his discharge papers, if available.
