The Discover Learning Center 2017 Summer Camp provides your child with a fun and informative learning experience. This summer program is designed to give students knowledge and experience concerning the Science Olympiad competition, Mathcounts competition and Spelling Bee competition. We meanwhile will engage in courses in writing, reading, and math. Discover Learning Center will continue to be a high-quality education environment with devoted teachers that are carefully selected. 


All DLC teachers not only have FCPS AAP Endorsement but also are a role model for the students. This makes Discover Learning Center a special place for the students.

(Full Day = Monday to Friday8:30am to 5:30pm)


(Half Day = Monday to Friday8:30am to 12:00pm)


(Extended Care = Monday to Friday5:30pm to 6:30pm)

Registration fee for summer camp: $30 per student, it is non-refundable


Early Registration Discount by received the Registration form and Full Payment before 4/30/2017: -$30.00 per student


Multiple Session discount: -$30.00, starting from the 2nd session for every session.

Winning Team will have a free ticket to King's Dominion 


We will have team competitions in the daily activities.  Everyone in the winning team will have a free ticket to King's Dominion in Session 2, 3, 4 and 5.

 

Program details:


Rising 1st Grade:


Naglieri Nonverbal Test (Grade 1): Pattern Completion, Reasoning by Analogy, Serial Reasoning and Spatial Visualization.


English and Math: Every morning, the program will cover English reading comprehension, writing and grammar, and First grade math, but not limited to. 


Team Activities: Science Olympiad--Participate in the projects with high grade students;  Mathcounts practice/Competition; Spelling Bee Competition; Sports completion, Team-Building  competition

 

Rising 2nd Grade:


FCPS Cognitive Abilities Test (FX CogAT-Custom Form for Grade 2): Verbal Analogies, Sentence completion, Verbal Classification, Number analogies, Number Puzzles, Number Sequence, Figure Matrices, Paper Folding and Figure Classification.


English and Math: Every morning, the program will cover English reading comprehension, writing and grammar, and Third grade math, but not limited to. 


Team Activities: Science Olympiad--Participate in the projects with high grade students;  Mathcounts practice/Competition; Spelling Bee Competition; Sports completion, Team-Building  competition

 

Rising 3rd Grade:

Rising 7th Grade:


English and Math: Every morning, the program will cover English reading comprehension, writing and grammar, and Algebra 1, but not limited to. 


Science Olympiad Division B: Students learn and practice for the Science Olympiad. Teams compete in the events covering scientific knowledge, processes, and applications. The Science Olympiad topics include earth science, physics, astronomy, biology, and chemistry.
